Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank

Founded by the late Harry Chapin, Long Island Cares, Inc. brings together all available resources for the benefit of the hungry and food insecure on Long Island and, to the best of our ability, provides for the humanitarian needs of our community. Our goals are to improve food security for families, sponsor programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency, and educate the general public about the causes and consequences of hunger on Long Island. Our vision is “A Hunger Free Long Island”.

We were happy to again provide Grant funding to NYPD Foundation, supporting their Options Program. The Options Program provides young people with decision-making skills, a voice in their community, and career development opportunities by using virtual reality to impart better emotional intelligence.

Wildlife Conservation Society

We were happy to provide grant funding support to Wildlife Conservation Society. WCS was founded in 1895 with a mission to save wildlife and wild places worldwide. They endeavor to inspire people to value nature at their four NYC zoos and the New York Aquarium.

Remembering our Founder on what would have been her 80th birthday.

We were delighted to present Grant funding to EquiCenter in Honeoye Fall, NY. EquiCenter, at the William & Mildred Levine Ranch, is a premier accredited member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH), and a non-profit facility serving those with disabilities, veterans and at-risk youth. Equine-related programs currently offered include therapeutic horseback riding, horsemanship, and Heroes for Horses, a program that uses a variety of equine-related therapies to help war veterans and their families. Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center

We were delighted to present Grant funds to Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center in Westbury, NY. Our Grant funds will support their outreach to the growing senior population of Long Island so that they may serve more area families who are living with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Bivona Child Advocacy Center

We were happy to fulfill a Grant request to Bivona Child Advocacy Center. Our Grant funds will be used to support Bivona’s Facility and Multidisciplinary Team of professionals who are responsible for providing services to the children and families who have been impacted by the trauma of abuse.

Finger Lakes Land Trust

Another Grant presentation to the Finger Lakes Land Trust. We were happy to walk the trail and see the trailhead marker at the Finger Lakes Land Trust, Canandaigua Vista Nature Preserve. Preserving nature for future generations was near and dear to Marilyn Lichtman’s heart, and we feel she would have been thrilled to see this nature preserve and trailhead marker thanking our Foundation.

We were happy to fulfill a Grant request for Zuma’s’ Rescue Ranch, located in Colorado. Our funds will be used to support Zuma’s Equine Assisted Learning and Workforce Development Program for Veterans.
