We were happy to return to Doylestown hospital’s new Cardiac Pavilion in Doylestown Pennsylvania. The new “Lichtman Art Gallery” on the second floor will display various works of art from local artists. These pieces will serve as art therapy for the patients. One of the first paintings to be hung is of one of Marilyn Lichtman’s favorite dogs which was painted by a local artist. This painting was presented to the hospital on a permanent loan basis.
We were happy to return to Solebury Township Police Department to present Grant funds to support them procuring several pieces of equipment to assist in their effective response to issues and incidents in their township.
We were happy to return to America’s VetDogs, located in Smithtown New York. They provide custom-trained service dogs to America’s veterans, service members and first responders with physical and emotional disabilities. It costs over $50,000 to breed, raise, train and place one service dog; however, there is never a charge to the recipient.
We were honored to fulfill a grant request to the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund. The mission of the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund is to send at-risk children touched by gun violence to summer sleep-away camp. This allows for a melding of Scott’s love of camp with his love for children. Scott J. Beigel was a teacher, a cross-country coach, a counselor and a mentor. He was killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School by an active shooter who took the lives of 17 innocent people, including Scott. He died a hero at school protecting the lives of his students.
We were happy to provide Grant funding to JAVC Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council in Kingman, AZ. Our funds will help fund emergency shelter (motel nights) and food (vouchers to local restaurants/VISA gift cards). Veterans need a coordinated effort that provides secure housing, basic health care, substance abuse care, mental health counseling and personal development. JAVC operates a 25 unit Transitional Housing facility for homeless veterans providing a “Hand-up” approach.
We were happy to provide Grant funding to Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA), specifically helping to expand the Carol’s Wish Financial Navigation. This program was created to tackle problems with access and affordability to quality care for women diagnosed with ovarian cancers. COCA’s plan is to expand their reach to all women suffering from gynecologic cancers. The goal of the program is to alleviate both the financial and the medical consequences of what is known in medical literature as “financial toxicity.” Financial Toxicity refers to the common experience in the American health care system of the cost of care becoming a factor in the patient’s ability to heal.
We were delighted to provide Grant funding once again to Drea’s Dream, The Andrea Rizzo Foundation. Over the years, our Grant funds have helped them to sustain their highly regarded pediatric dance therapy program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
We were delighted to return to 13thirty Cancer Connect to fulfill a grant request for funds to help them recover from COVID-19 setbacks. 13thirty helps adolescents and young adults (AYAs) impacted by cancer live their very best lives – today!
Since 2001, 13thirty has concentrated their efforts and resources on a targeted national problem that affects 89,500 young people in the U.S. each year.
13thirty offers a variety of peer programs for their members in three main categories: arts, wellness, and just-for-fun social gatherings. These resources help AYAs enhance their coping skills and self-esteem by building satisfying peer connections, learning to self-advocate, and developing effective self-management tools for long-term health.
